Lake Nona Medical City
Lake Nona Medical City is a cluster of hospitals, research institutes and medical education on roughly 650 acres. The University of Central Florida College of Medicine anchored it and welcomed its first students in 2009. Its neighbors include Nemours Children’s Hospital, the Orlando VA Medical Center, the University of Florida Research and Academic Center and Sanford Burnham Prebys. Buildings at this scale depend on signage systems: wayfinding from the parking deck to the right clinic, ADA room identification on every door and donor or recognition walls in the lobbies. Signs in clinical settings must also stand up to frequent cleaning.
Lake Nona Town Center
Lake Nona Town Center sits just south of SR-417 along Lake Nona Boulevard, with restaurants, shops, offices and Boxi Park, an outdoor venue built from repurposed shipping containers. Tavistock, the developer behind Lake Nona, keeps its headquarters there. The look is contemporary and design-led, so tenants need storefront signs, window graphics and interior branding that hold their own beside ambitious architecture. Clean dimensional letters, precise acrylic work and well-planned glass graphics suit that environment. Weekend crowds at Boxi Park also bring foot traffic that rewards a well-dressed window.
Neighborhoods and the Education Village
The City of Orlando divides Lake Nona into four neighborhoods. Lake Nona Central includes VillageWalk and the USTA National Campus. Lake Nona Estates holds the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. Lake Nona South takes in Medical City and Laureate Park, and Northlake Park includes Morningside and Waters Edge. Outside the original boundary, the Education Village, once Narcoossee Groves, holds Lake Nona High School and Valencia College’s Lake Nona Campus. Schools, clubs, sports venues and amenity centers each bring their own signage needs.
Inside Orlando city limits
Lake Nona is a planned community of about seventeen square miles within the City of Orlando, in Orange County, southeast of Orlando International Airport. It uses the 32827 and 32824 ZIP codes. For signs, that means the City of Orlando, not Orange County, reviews most permits, and many properties add their own design criteria set by the owner or association. In multi-tenant buildings, tenants change, so sign systems built to be updated save money over time.
